WORTH KNOWING

Here you will find a document about everything worth knowing about the island and life on the island - and we mean EVERYTHING. You can learn more about our traditions and find out how to get hold of medicine, or who to contact if you need help mowing the grass.

Selection from ØBC-Dariet

DOCTOR

If you want to see a doctor, you have to go to Skælskør, here there are several doctors to choose from. With a national registration address on Omø, you get a health insurance card with "Living on the island without a doctor" printed on it. Which means that you have a free choice of doctor

DAYCARE

Slagelse municipality offers day care for children under the compulsory school age. The island's daycare services are provided by a permanent resident pedagogically trained daycare worker in her private home, which is a farm with various animals. Further information is availableat Marlene's.

COMMON DINING

Also called Family Center. 4-5 times a year you are invited to a communal meal in the community hall. The island's self-taught volunteers and skilled chefs prepare a good Danish 2-course menu for those registered. Usually between 50 and 80 residents and guests participate.

OMØ THE MAGAZINE

Local residents' magazine, published by Omø Beboer og Grundejerforening, distributed to all permanent residents, sent to subscribers, press, politicians and other business partners. Published 8 times a year. Not in January, June, July and August. The magazine has been published since March 1989.

Omø's ØBC-Darium is made according to an idea by Tine Morsing.

In clear and alphabetical point form, you can find all relevant information about the island - from evening schools to island camp.
